Infrared Sauna and Halotherapy in Flint, MI: Why We Opened the HaloSauna PRO

Red Light Therapy Spa LLC · 1295 S. Linden Rd, Suite F, Flint Township

People searching for an infrared sauna in Flint, MI are rarely looking for a lecture. They want shoulders that drop, sleep that starts, and air that does not feel like work.

That is why Red Light Therapy Spa added the HaloSauna PRO — a private cabin that combines far-infrared heat with dry salt therapy (halotherapy) in one session. Chromotherapy lighting is included. The air stays milder than a traditional gym sauna. The panels warm you from all sides.

We do not diagnose, treat, or cure.
We help clients manage stress, recovery, sleep timing, circulation, and breathing comfort.

What is the HaloSauna PRO?

The HaloSauna PRO is a 3-person infrared cabin with a built-in commercial halogenerator. You can run:

  • Far-infrared heat only
  • Dry salt only
  • Heat + salt together

Sessions are 25, 35, or 45 minutes. Most first-time clients in Flint Township start at 25 minutes. People who already see Dr. Julie or Eliza often book 35 minutes as part of a same-day visit.

Low-EMF note we give on the floor: heaters in this class are designed to keep EMF very low at the bench. Ask us if that is a concern.

This is not the same service as Contour Light red light therapy. Same light family. Different job. The sauna is heat, salt, and calm. Contour Light is the contour tool.

Infrared sauna benefits: what the research actually supports

Circulation and heart-health markers

The strongest sauna evidence still comes from traditional Finnish bathing, not from a single infrared cabin in Michigan. Keep that distinction.

A 2015 study in JAMA Internal Medicine followed 2,315 middle-aged men in eastern Finland. Men who used a sauna four to seven times per week had a lower risk of sudden cardiac death than men who went once a week. Longer sessions (over 19 minutes) tracked with better cardiovascular outcomes than very short ones. That study is observational. It does not prove that two infrared visits a week in Flint will add years to your life.

A 2018 review in Mayo Clinic Proceedings summarized sauna research on blood pressure, vessel function, and related markers — again, mostly Finnish-style heat.

A 2025 meta-analysis of heat thermotherapy (saunas, hot-water immersion, and similar protocols) found repeated heat associated with modest reductions in blood pressure and improved flow-mediated dilation after single sessions. Useful signal. Not a prescription.

How we translate that in Flint:
35–45 minutes, twice a week. Judge circulation in 8–12 weeks. Do not quote the Finnish “4–7 times a week” longevity numbers on a twice-weekly plan.

Sleep and stress

You do not sleep because the cabin is magic. You sleep because body temperature falls after you step out.

Passive heating — a warm bath or a sauna — followed by cooldown is a well-described way to support deeper sleep. Small older work on Finnish sauna reported more slow-wave sleep in the hours after a session. Practical rule: finish 1–2 hours before bed, hydrate, keep the bedroom cool.

Sleep protocol we use: 25–30 minutes, twice a week. Judge it in 2–3 weeks.

Recovery and soreness

Far-infrared heat is easier to tolerate than a 180°F traditional sauna. Core temperature still rises. Blood flow increases. Warm tissue is easier for Dr. Julie to work with before an adjustment, and quieter after one.

That pairing is The Tune-Up on our menu.

Halotherapy (dry salt therapy): adjunct, not a cure

Halotherapy means breathing micronized dry salt inside a cabin or salt room.

Evidence is thinner than the sauna literature. A 2014 review of halotherapy for COPD concluded the research was not strong enough to recommend it as treatment. Later reviews of dry salt therapy for chronic respiratory complaints are more hopeful on symptoms and comfort, and still ask for better trials.

How we say it at the desk:
Some clients use salt to manage stuffiness, sinus pressure, and that tight-chest feeling. We do not advertise the HaloSauna as treatment for asthma, COPD, or eczema.

Typical salt protocol: heat on around 80°F; salt off before the cabin gets too hot. Judge breathing comfort in 2–4 weeks.

Who should wait before using an infrared sauna

  • Pregnancy (especially first trimester)
  • Unstable heart condition, recent heart attack or stroke

  • Alcohol the same day
  • Hemophilia
  • Any medicine patch (pain, nicotine, hormone) — patches come off
  • Pacemaker, blood-pressure medication, diabetes, or MS — ask your physician
  • Fresh sunburn, open skin, or a weepy rash — skip salt, and maybe skip heat

Natural and non-invasive is not the same as “for everyone.”
